This is a “MUST READ”! Mr. Cooper has a unique way of combining a fictional story with historic facts and gypsy/fortune telling information. There is enough detail to pique the interest and make the story blossom, but not so much that the story got lost. Perfect balance.  I was so riveted, that I started reading at about 7 pm, and had finished it at about 3:30 am!! I have not read anything that held my attention and interest this much in a very long time. Kudos to Mr.Cooper on a very well written book. I hope there are many more books to come from this author.

Author Curtis Cooper does a masterful job of changing Connie from a sweet young housewife into someone who is downright scary – while remaining a sweet young housewife. It is worth the time and price just to watch how the investigators put proof of a century old curse together, but there is more. Much more. Don’t miss this great novel, a fiction piece that sometimes seems very real.

This is a gripping story about greed and powers that have NO boundaries. How far will one go to have everything? Without regard for human life? This book is impeccably well researched with extensive and fascinating historical detail. Excellent Story! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and look forward to more novels by this author.

I loved this book! This is the third book that I read of Mr. Cooper’s and by far the best one. His writing made it seem like you were there, on the adventure with the characters, with surprises at every turn. I am amazed by the research that was done in writing this book, from playing cards to gypsies to history….everything was so real. The timeless battle of good verses evil, wondering which will prevail, makes this book an absolute must read. I was sad to see this book end, I wanted to read more.

I must say that I read a lot and it is a passion of mine.  I could not put your book down.  It was fantastic.  I love it when you can get pulled totally away from reality and engaged completely in a story.  So I just wanted you to know that I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I found this book to be an exciting read. Mr. Cooper’s knowledge of gypsies and fortunetelling along with a mixture of fact and fiction, make this story intriguing. With detailed descriptions that placed me inside the story, I found it difficult to put down. Mr. Cooper is a unique and talented author. I am fascinated by his ability to combine historic events with the storyline and make it believable. It is a classic good versus evil story that allows the main characters to have free will making decisions that determine their destiny. I highly recommend taking the time to read it.

An educational and interesting novel. It is obvious that the author spent many hours looking up and studying the history of Gypsies. The further I read, the more exciting the story became. I do become a bit impatient with too much detail, but curiosity keeps me going. I always appreciate learning something as I read a story. The author has provided much background and history not only about the Gypsies, but also about the performance of psychics and the undertakings of genealogists. This story held me breathless at times. I enjoyed the story line up to the end.

I love finding new authors to explore. Mr. Cooper’s book was fascinating for me as I had very little knowledge about gypsies.
His interest in history, helped bring the story alive with details about the lifestyle of a gypsy as well as creating the mystery surrounding the main character. I applaud his first effort in creating an interesting and entertaining book. Looking forward to his next book!

This book grabbed my attention from the moment I picked it up. The twists and turns of the plot coupled with the historic evidence of fortune telling truly makes this book one of a kind. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a delightfully interesting read.

Let me start this review with a rather long-winded preface. The author is a very good friend of mine, a man with whom I have worked for around fifteen years at the time of this writing. I’ve read one of his other books and my response to his inquiry as to whether I liked it was probably not as enthusiastic as he hoped it might be. So it was with some degree of trepidation that I took this copy of his first novel. What if I didn’t like it? I know our friendship is solid, but the man is giving me something into which he poured many long hours of time, effort and thought. What do I say to him if I don’t like this book?
So, that was my frame of mind as I sat down and began paging through this one. I was quickly hooked on the story of Connie and her rather unusual “gift.” What would you do if all your wishes came true? It’d be pretty neat to be able to simply wish for something to occur and know it was going to happen. Easy street, here I come!
However, Connie’s wishes have a down side. Each of them brings about some dire consequence for someone else. It takes a while for her to realize what is going on, but by that time she’s in pretty deep and begins to rationalize her actions.
Meanwhile some folks are looking into the origins of her ability. After a lengthy chunk of history and background, the puzzle starts to come together. As the body count rises, the race to save Connie gets underway.
That’s as far as I will go into the plot.
This is a first novel, and it has all the hallmarks of one. There are some rough bits, as you’d expect. There are some misspellings and correct words scattered here and there, but they do not detract from a fun to read story.
Curt, I didn’t want to read your book for the reasons stated above, but I am glad I did. However, I don’t think you wrote this story from an idea. I think you wrote the entire book just so you could write the last line of it, which was absolutely perfect.
